This hotel has brought a new level of luxury to Siena. The only 5-star hotel located in the historic center, the building was originally a private palazzo dating to the 14th century. The reception area has a glass covered atrium with glass elevators where the hotel's excellent restaurant and wine bar are located.
On the "piano nobile" (the floor above the ground floor), one finds the Salone delle Feste together with four sumptuous double rooms, nine junior suites and one suite, all differing from one another, some with frescoes, others with a fireplace or gallery. The magnificent Salone delle Feste is frescoed throughout with monochromatic eighteenth-century trompe l'oeil decorations and a painted wooden gallery for musicians. The Salone can be used for events, receptions and banquets.
Ten of the rooms on the upper two floors have their own compact terrace with a spectacular view over the Sienese rooftops. The Altana suite, at the top of the medieval tower has one bedroom, with the option of a second, and two bathrooms, is bi-level with a 360 degree panoramic view of Siena. Nine of the junior suites are located on the top floor, each with its own terrace and view. During the excavations, a 12th century enoteca was discovered beneath the villa. It has been beautifully restored and is used for wine tastings.
The hotel has an outstanding and very efficient staff which is apparent the moment one enters the building.
NOTE: Cars will be permitted to drive to the hotel only to drop luggage, as vehicles are restricted in the city center. A parking garage is located just outside the historic center.
