Private Shore Excursions are available daily from the ports of Livorno, Civitavecchia, Naples, Sorrento and Amalfi. When booking Shore Excursions, please provide the name of the ship, with arrival and departure times from the port. Most vehicles used for shore excursions are Mercedes E-class, V-class & 16 seat minibuses. However, JDB Ground retains the right to substitute a different vehicle type if necessary.

Tour itineraries are subject to change due to site closings, inclement weather, strikes or other unforeseen circumstances. JDB Ground reserves the right to substitute a venue or site during a tour in the event the scheduled site is not available. Entrance fees to museums and exhibits are not included in the rate unless indicated, nor are gratuities for drivers and guides.

Should the client miss the scheduled Shore Excursion for any reason, the client will be charged the full fee and is not entitled to a refund. Please advise at the time of booking if the client has a physical disability or if there are children needing a car seat.

Half Day Lucca Car Service
5 Hours
Meet your driver after you have disembarked the ship and proceed to Lucca for sightseeing on your own. The main piazza of the medieval town of Lucca was built on the site of a Roman forum. The city is famous for its beautiful gardens and for the walls that have protected it for centuries from invaders. It is possible to either walk along the walls or travel them by bicycle. Highlights of the city include the church of San Michele in Foro, the Duomo and a Roman amphitheater. Departure time, which depends on the ship's arrival and departure schedule, will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Meet our driver when you disembark and proceed to Florence where you may visit the city on your own, meet our expert guide for a half or full day of touring (choose one or two of the tours listed below), or enjoy a cooking lesson at a famous Florentine cooking academy. With a half day of touring or the cooking lesson, there will be time for shopping in the afternoon before returning to your ship. Departure time, which depends on the ship's arrival and departure schedule, will be confirmed at the time of booking. A stop in Pisa can be made to see the famous Leaning Tower; please request at the time of booking.

Florence Walking Tour
3 Hours
Florence is home to some of the greatest architectural monuments in the world. The morning will be spent walking its streets and discussing its art, architecture, history and folklore with an expert guide. The tour will include visits to Brunelleschi's Duomo, the Church of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio.

Entry fees of approximately € 4 per person are additional.


Masterpieces of the Uffizi
3 Hours
The Uffizi offers an unrivalled opportunity to see some of the greatest works of the Renaissance including masterpieces by Leonardo Da Vinci and Botticelli. Guests won't have to wait in line, but will enter with a reservation and tour the gallery's treasures with the help of an expert guide. Then enjoy a walking tour of the surrounding Piazza della Signoria with its Palazzo Vecchio and famous statues under the Loggia dei Lanzi.

Entry fees of approximately € 12 per person are additional; not available on Mondays.


The Accademia and Medici's
3 Hours
See Michelangelo's famous "David" and other masterpieces of the Accademia Gallery with your expert guide. Enter with a reservation without having to wait in line. Then visit the San Lorenzo complex to view the splendid Medici chapels decorated with frescoes and inlaid stones, or visit the first residence of Cosimo di Medici, known as the Palazzo Medici Riccardi.

Upon request, the Accademia Gallery can instead be paired with a visit to the Florentine workshop that manufactured the rare and precious stones for the Medici family, the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, where you will see paintings on stone, works in pietra dura and imitation and polychrome marble, as well as oil paintings.

NOTE: Entrance fees of approximately € 13 per person (6 years and older) for the Accademia and € 9 per person for the Medici chapels are additional; not available on Mondays.

The Opificio option is available mornings only, daily except Sunday and Monday. Entrance fee is € 2 per person. Please indicate if you want this option at the time of booking.


The Oltrarno and Pitti Palace
3 Hours
Tour the breathtaking Pitti Palace, once residence of the Medici Family and considered one of Brunelleschi's greatest architectural accomplishments. Your expert guide will accompany you through the museum's majestic halls where you will view masterpieces by such artists as Canova, Titan, Raphael and Botticelli. Tour the Galleries of Costumes and Modern Art and conclude the morning with a walk through the hidden streets of the Oltrarno artisan quarter where you will get the rare opportunity to glimpse the artists at work.

Entrance fees of approximately € 5 per person are additional; not available on Mondays.


The Jewish History Tour of Florence
3 Hours
This unique tour includes the Synagogue and its museum, originally built in 1882 and considered one of the most important examples of a monumental temple in the Byzantine style, with a Moorish influence. The rich interior - lacy carvings in wood and bronze, inlaid marble floors, rich mosaics and stained glass windows - will astound you. Your guide will explain the building's history and will lead you through the museum housed within. Then begin a walking tour of Florence's historical Jewish sites, including what was once the Jewish Ghetto (now the city center). Trace the history of such places as Piazza della Repubblica, Santa Croce, Piazza Signoria and the David, Via Brunelleschi and Via de' Pecori while your guide elaborates on their importance in the historical context of the city.

Florence's Grand Palazzi
3 Hours
Created for those with a specific interest in historic palaces or noble families, this walking tour visits three of the most famous famous palazzi and ancient homes in Florence. The 14th century Palazzo Davanzati, home of a noble family, is filled with furnishing and paintings from that era. Stroll the medieval streets to the Palazzo Vecchio, completed in the 1300's, that contains masterpieces by Vasari and Michelangelo, along with beautiful frescoed ceilings throughout. Finish the tour with a stop at the Palazzo Corsi, home of a collector of art filled with fine objects, paintings and rare furniture.

NOTE: Available Monday through Saturday mornings, and the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. On these Sundays the Palazzo Corsi will be substituted by an external visit of Palazzo Rucellai and Palazzo Strozzi. Entry fees approximately € 11 per person are additional.


Cooking in Florence
3 Hours
Experience individual, hands-on cooking lessons at a famous Florentine cooking school with expert chefs from the best restaurants in the city. Enjoy their personal and typical approach to Tuscan cuisine. Our Classic Italian Menu class gives you the opportunity to choose a personalized menu (clients will be sent a list of menu selections at the time of booking) consisting of Antipasto, Pasta, Entrèe with side dishes and Dessert. Students will enjoy the meal they have prepared, accompanied by wines from the school's exclusive wine cellars. Classes begin at 10:00 a.m. and include lunch.

Full Day Siena and San Gimignano Car Service

Meet your driver after you have disembarked the ship and proceed to Siena for sightseeing on your own. Siena, home of the famous Palio horserace, is often described as Tuscany's most beautiful hill town. Wander its streets and enjoy a step back into history. A drive through the Sienese hills then takes you to San Gimignano, called the "Manhattan" of Tuscany for its 15 medieval towers. Stop for lunch in one of the local trattoria (to be paid separately), then stroll the streets of this charming town and enjoy the afternoon on your own. Make sure to see the Piazza della Cisterna and the Piazza del Duomo. Take a peek at the local wares and wines in the shops that line the cobblestone streets. Departure time, which depends on the ship's arrival and departure schedule, will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Meet your guide in Siena for a private tour that will highlight the major monuments of this historical city including the stunning the Piazza del Campo where the great horserace "the Palio" has been held every year since the dark ages. Next visit the Palazzo Pubblico and the intriguing cathedral complex that is home to a collection of the works of art of Michelangelo, Donatello, and Bernini.

Full Day Cinque Terre Car Service

Our driver will meet you at the ship for transfer to the beautiful shoreline of the Cinque Terre in Liguria (1 1/2 hours). Most of the villages are accessible only by foot, so your driver will take you to the town of Riomaggiore, where you can then take the local ferry or train to discover the towns of Monterosso, the largest of the villages, Vernazza and Manarola. Be sure to walk the Via dell'Amore (Lover's Lane) that hugs the coastline with its breathtaking view. Meet your driver at the end of the day at Riomaggiore for transfer back to your ship. Departure time, which depends on the ship's arrival and departure schedule, will be confirmed at the time of booking.

**Trips to the Cinque Terre are recommended for guests who are good walkers as there are steep inclines.
