Villa Ducale

Originally built in 1883 as the villa of an aristocratic family (the Dukes of Taormina), this wonderful villa is located on the highest point of Taormina with breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna. The Villa Ducale is managed by the grandson of the original owner; he converted the villa into a small upscale hotel in 1993. Before undertaking this project, he spent many months in the USA studying successful bed and breakfast inns. All rooms are different and are furnished with great care using many antiques and decorative paintings on the walls and doors. The bountiful breakfast featuring home-made cakes, local cheeses, salamis, salads, vegetables and fresh juices is served from 7:30 11:00 a.m. on the terrace, weather permitting. There is a bar that serves a wide range of Italian wines and light fare from afternoon until midnight. Attention to detail here is incredible and shows the owners' interest in creating a welcoming, informal atmosphere. They are always present to respond to their guests' needs. Complimentary shuttle service to the beach and town center is available upon request.

NOTE: Hotel is normally closed in January and February. There are lots of steps and NO ELEVATOR. Not suitable for persons with limited mobility.
