As Taormina's first hotel dating from 1873, the Timeo is without doubt one of the most glamorous hotels in Italy.

The sumptuous rooms, though some are not large, feature many antique furnishings, and have either a panoramic balcony or terrace. The hotel's excellent restaurant, Il Dito e La Luna, serves Sicilian and Mediterranean specialties on the terrace during good weather. We were impressed by the entire dining experience at the Timeo, but even the most jaded gourmands would be impressed by the 600 wines on the wine list as well as the evidence that the pastry chef really loves his job! Save room for dessert! There is an attractive American bar off the lobby with piano music during the evening.

While the hotel is just steps from the center of Taormina with its many shops and restaurants, a shuttle service is available to take clients down to the private beach (tan sand) at Villa Sant' Andrea, a sister property. For families, there are connecting rooms as well as the Kaiser Suite, the hotel's grandest accommodation. Other facilities include a beautiful swimming pool, fitness center and Turkish bath. A variety of massage and facial treatments are available on site.
