Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi
C. Italy: Le Marche: Castel di Lama
Borgo Storico Seghetti Panichi is an historic borgo built in the 17th century located in le Marche, a region boarded by Umbria on the west and the Adriatic Sea on the east. This wonderful estate is surrounded by gardens designed by the famous landscape architect Ludwig Winter and is centrally located between the seaside (10 km) and the wonderfully preserved medieval town of Ascoli Piceno (8 km). The grounds consist of a large 17th century villa and chapel along with the San Pancrazio residence, a former 17th century stable. The accommodations are a combination of old and new. The five suites located in the villa are decorated with an "old world" Italian feel including beautiful wallpapers, new bathrooms and fine fabrics and linens. All villa suites have views of the garden and include satellite TV and ceiling fans. The villa consists of elegant formal sitting and dining rooms that are open to visitors. The five suites located in the San Pancrazio residence are decorated with a contemporary country décor and consist of 4 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom apartment suites, all of which are equipped with telephone, ISDN, satellite TV, mini-bar, air conditioning and kitchenette. There is one handicap suite located in the San Pancrazio residence. The borgo's grounds also include a swimming pool with views of a lovely valley, where guests have been known to lounge all day. There is also a small but well-equipped gym with sauna which is open from April 1 - September 30. Inside the villa, guests are welcome to use the billiard room and a peaceful drawing room to read or listen to music. Le Marche is rich with culture and history and features countless historical villas, ancient walled hill towns, and fantastic gastronomy. Le Marche is the center for the manufacture of designer shoes in Italy as well as home to excellent shopping outlets such as TOD's and Cesare Paciotti!
